About the Author

Sheila Thomas has been an Information Technology (IT) professional since 1986. Prior to
joining the IT world, she received a bachelor's degree in Social Change & Development
and Philosophy with a professional program in Social Services. She has taught social
development classes in the Unified School District of De Pere and has worked as a
teacher's aid for the visually handicapped.

As an IT professional, Sheila was trained as an instructor. She developed and delivered a
variety of training courses including UNIX, PC Basics, and Crystal Reports. The first two
were technical training aimed at IT professionals while the third was delivered to the city
of De Kalb.

While working as an IT professional, Sheila noticed the often painful and very expensive
implementation of software development projects. She always believed there had to be a
better way for IT professionals to effectively achieve their stated goals.

While working on her Masters Degree in Management, she explored the issues around
software development and discovered that IT professionals are a specific personality type.
They are generally introverted and respond to soft skills training differently than the general
population. An IT person herself, she is aligned, personality-wise, with others in her chosen
industry. She developed this training out of her education and experiences.
